I promise I’m still alive (but, I wish these gas prices would die)
Good Thursday morning all. As my title says I am still alive and kicking. I might not always feel like it but I am.
It all started Friday, when I had my first softball practice. Nothing bad happened at practice but the next two days were pure stiffness and discomfort. I didn’t realize that there were so many muscles in my body and that I actually use them that much. When I woke up Monday morning I was feeling pretty good. My muscles seemed to be back to normal. So Tuesday rolls around. I am beside myself with excitement that my first softball game is that night. I decide to go into work about and hour and a half early so that I wouldn’t have to work late and miss my game. So I get there around 7:00 a.m. and get my breakfast ready. While I am getting it ready I start to get a pain in my lower abdomen area. I thought it was nothing and tried to get back to work, but I couldn’t even sit down. I tried to stick it out but I just couldn’t. I left work and went to Northside Hospital Emergency Room. I had a strong suspicion of what it was but I was in need of some serious pain med’s. Once I got back and got an I.V. of the good stuff, I found out that I had a kidney stone. So I have been home doped up on Oxycodone. Today has been the first day that I haven’t taken any medication, at least not yet.
So, I have done a whole lot of nothing while watching a ton of television. This includes watching a whole lot of FoxNews and reading The Drudge Report. The big story seems to be the gas prices and what to do about them. I am getting fed up with this whole gas situation. I am tired of the high prices and I am tired of the government not doing anything about it. Finally, President Bush calls for drilling off the coast but our wonderful Democrats decide instead of relieving our problems now by increasing our output they want to take control of the oil refineries. Don’t believe me, click here. Imagine that, Democrats wanting to seize control of a private industry. Sounds a little like something a Socialist nation would do. It really gives validity to the name of my blog.
I agree the gas prices are ridiculous and they are affecting me directly. I drive a Ford F-150 that gets around thirteen miles a gallon. If I’m lucky. I bought it with a different rear end so it will tow my travel trailer easier. This takes anywhere from two to three miles per gallon off of my total. So I am directly affected. However, I am not turning to the pathetic government to solve my problems. We need to be drilling here and now. There is a petition that needs to be signed if you agree. Go to www.americansolutions.com if you agree with me. Hopefully, these morons will get a clue.
If we start drilling now it will send a message to those in the Middle East that we are serious and I would bet $1,000 that oil prices would drop immediately. They would know that we are more than talk like the cowardly Democrats. It would show the world that we will do what it takes to keep ourselves safe and keep our people happy. Gas prices would plummet and this would be a thing of the past.
However, if the big talker Barack gets his way, the oil companies would be taxed on their profits which means that the price of gas would go up even more. As we know, corporations don’t pay tax. They just pass them along to us in the form of higher prices.
Without getting into a whole boring array of economic terminology, the clear answer is to “Drill Here, Drill Now, Pay Less”.
Until next time.
